As I look back at photos from 2019, the last photo I captured of queen Louise will always be one of my favorites. 🥰Her colony has not only been my most docile, but my top honey producer. Louise’s apiary legacy lives on through three of her daughters and even a granddaughter. These queens continue to follow in their mama’s footsteps with their calmness, massive spring buildup and honey production. Link in Bio! 🐝💚 Last week, when our temperatures were around 40°F, I removed my mouse guards and entrance reducers to clear dead bees from the screen bottom boards. I am happy to say that all of my colonies “sounded” great. Throughout the winter, I usually can’t take a peek inside, but I can listen. When I press my ear directly against the side of the hive, I can hear that beautiful hum. 🥰Until Santa brings me that thermal camera, “listening” is my best option for peace of mind.🐝💚❄️💫
