Bee Camp 2020

Bee Camp for Kids is a unique, hands-on, and educational experience designed for kids ages 7-12 (2nd – 6th grade). Throughout the week, junior beekeepers will have numerous opportunities to suit up in the safety of our provided bee suits and learn about the amazing life of our honey bees, local pollinators and the plants that sustain them.

About the Beekeeper

Beekeeper Roda has a life-long passion for not only pollinators, but for the plants that sustain them. As a former elementary educator for over 20 years, Roda blends her passion for education, honey bees, and gardening to offer this unique, hands-on opportunity for kids, right here in West Michigan.

Bee Camp for Kids 2020 – Summer Sessions

We believe that small group instruction is most beneficial for learning. Therefore, weekly sessions are capped at 10 individuals. Children aged 7-12 (2nd – 6th grade) are welcome, unless other arrangements have been made with the beekeeper. Indigo Acres Apiary is offering the following week long sessions:

  • June 15-19
  • June 29-July 3
  • July 20-24
  • August 3-7

Session Time: 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday

Session Cost: $150

Session Cost Includes:

  • A “Bee Camp for Kids” t-shirt
  • Backpack to hold camp materials provided by BeeVital
  • Camp journal
  • Pollinator friendly seeds/seedlings to plant at home provided by Botanical Interests
  • Mason bee house for home
  • Photo Opportunities: Individual photos will be emailed to families, throughout the week.
  • A week of hands-on fun and outdoor learning!

Note: A completed liability waiver will be required for each participant. This waiver will be e-mailed to you, as well as additional information to prepare your child for this exciting experience, coming Spring 2020.

Cancellation PolicyNO REFUNDS will be given on Bee Camp for Kids Sessions. If your child is unable to attend your purchased session, Indigo Acres Apiary will make every attempt to reschedule your child/children to another session, based on availability. This is NOT a guarantee. Please keep in mind, last minute cancellations are challenging for the bees and the beekeeper. Indigo Acres Apiary has the right to cancel any event due to illness or inclement weather. If your session is canceled by the beekeeper, you will be transferred to another session.
